Password Generator
Set the length and character sets, then generate. Passwords are created with your browser's cryptographic random generator, and the strength meter shows the password's entropy in bits — the number attackers actually have to beat.
Strength: — (0 bits of entropy)
Generated locally with cryptographic randomness — this password was never sent anywhere. Save it in a password manager; it is shown only here.
Frequently asked questions
Are the generated passwords safe to use?
They are generated with crypto.getRandomValues, the same cryptographic randomness your browser uses for security operations, and they never leave your device. As with any password, store it in a password manager rather than reusing it.
What does the strength meter measure?
Entropy in bits: password length multiplied by the information per character. Around 50 bits is fair, 75+ bits is strong, and 110+ bits is beyond any realistic brute-force attack.
What does "exclude ambiguous characters" do?
It removes characters that are easy to confuse — I, l, 1, O, 0 and similar — which is handy for passwords you may need to read aloud or type by hand.
